Language Systems Corp. has announced a student version of its FORTRAN with MPW programming environment. The language compiles full ANSI/ISO standard FORTRAN 77 plus all major VAX extensions. The UNIX-like MPW programming environment has optional dialogs for most commands.
The compiler includes command files to compile, link, and run a program using a variety of options. A scrolling output window with Edit, Print, and Save capabilities can be added to every FORTRAN program. Requires 2MB of RAM plus a hard disk. $99. Include copy of student ID card or class schedule to qualify.
In a separate announcement, Language Systems Corp. announced that it will support all popular programming languages with a suite of related tools. Under a recent agreement with Apple Computer, Language Systems will develop a Pascal compiler for the next generation of RISC-based Macintosh computers. SoftPolish, the first tool developed, was released at the 1992 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in May.
The application performs four functions for software developers: it tests dialogs, windows, and controls of an application for compliance with Appleās human interface guidelines; it tests for resource validity; it spell checks all string objects in application resources; and it automates file cleaning for master disks.
SoftPolish lists for $295 and requires System 6.0.5 or higher. Contact Language Systems Corp., 441 Carlisle Dr., Herndon, VA 22070-4802; (800) 252-6479.
